Primary fertility investigations
Sub-fertility is very common affecting as many as 1 in 6 couples. In todays world women through both choice and sometimes necessity often put their careers before considering a family. This means often women only start to consider conception in there 30’s and as age progresses, particularly if a large family is the goal, age related sub-fertility elements can have an impact.
The three main causes of sub-fertility are ovulatory dysfunction, male factors (such as low sperm counts or poor motility) and tubal factors (blocked fallopian tubes). A further category is “unexplained fertility” is also a common finding.
